A Virtual Welcome to Emily!
Emily O’Rourke is a rising senior at MIT and plans to pursue a research career. She has joined us (virtually) for the summer via the Penn SUIP program! Graduate programs, watch out for this rising star!
Goal for the summer: My goal for the summer is to become a better scientist and complete a research project that I am both proud of and excited about. By accomplishing this goal, I hope to gain confidence and preparation for pursuing a Ph.D. in the future. A personal goal of mine is to develop meaningful connections with my mentors and the other SUIP students.
One thing you hope to learn: I hope to learn more about the experimental design process and how to think like a scientist.
Favorite thing about virtual learning: The best part about virtual learning is that I can spend time with my family at home in Texas while also doing exciting research at UPenn. I am grateful for the technology that makes this virtual experience possible because it allows me to be two places at once while also staying safe.
Worst thing about virtual learning: The worst parts about virtual learning are not getting to experience the university campus and learn hands-on lab techniques.
