Briah Barksdale joins the lab!

We are super excited to welcome Briah to the lab as a Penn PREP Scholar! Briah earned her bachelors of science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Maryland Baltimore County as a Meyerhoff Scholar before starting at Penn. We are so lucky to have her as a member of the team!

Where are you from?

• Glen Burnie, Maryland

What got you interested in science?

• I loved going to the doctor’s office when I was little. I was intrigued by the doctor’s understanding of the human body.

Why Women’s Health research?

• I have always been interested in pregnancy because it is fascinating how the human body changes to accommodate a fetus and knows to make corrections in the developmental process. As an aspiring OB-GYN, I want to be able to answer questions for aspiring and expecting mothers. Adding research into the mix will allow me to aid the maternal community to a greater extent by pursuing unknown information.
